Founded by Abdallah Jamal in 1990, RELATIVE FORM Architecture Studio is a small and dynamic Architecture, Planning and Interior Design office. While our primary objective has been to explore the development of design prototypes appropriate to Muslim societies living in the Western world, over the years we have extended our concerns to a much wider audience, addressing the cultural, historical and psychological propriety of design for a diverse client base. We have a particular interest in the preservation of historic continuity in the built environment.
Our team has decades of experience in custom homes, multifamily housing, residential subdivision planning, retail tenancies, commercial buildings, Jamatkhanas and hospitality projects ranging from minor renovations to purpose build high rises. When the need arises, RFAS collaborates with other architects to provide efficient and timely service to our clients.
In navigating the delicate public process associated with larger projects our approach is to work hand in hand with the authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), tailoring the project to meet the goals of both client and AHJ. We encourage our clients to cultivate the best possible relationship with the AHJ and assist them in gaining neighbour support through the public process.
RFAS has a vibrant approach to problem solving through creative design solutions tailored tightly to the needs and the expectations of both the client and the end user and we pride ourselves in our attention to detail both at the design phase and during the construction documentation phase of our work. Each of our designs is unique to a given site and responds directly to the influences determined through an involved project analysis. We work very closely with our clients to understand their specific needs and goals and to balance these with the needs of the site and the AHJ. In the end, our primary aim is to design a neighbourly project of which our clients can be proud to take ownership.
