Mind Shift

As I write this, I am very conscious that my self-consciousness is probably the reason I haven’t paid much attention to my minuscule web site over the past decade and a half. So there is very little here describing my interests other than my early interests in Islamic Architecture and my grant work with the IIS.

I’ve been mulling over it for far too long but I have now decided to take stock of my career and publish some of my work for the record and to confirm my direction for my later years. My focus might be less on architecture and more in general on the arts that have been given second priority to the works of my career.

My interest in Islamic architecture seems to have abated during my working years along with the distinct lack of clientele that might have synergised with that aspect of my thinking. Yet my interest in the history and preservation of the cultural heritage of my forebears is still alive. My travel grant work with the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) in 1992 produced a large number of photographs and summary writings of the Gujarati Ismaili Jamatkhanas that I visited during my India tour. These slides will become a part of the IIS Special collections and will be accessible to researchers in the near future.
